A robbery occurred at the parking lot of No.3 Cheong Tin Road, Hong Kong International Airport. At around midnight on Thursday, a 36-year-old man surnamed Hu reported that he was robbed by several knife-wielding men at the above location. He was robbed of six gold bars weighing a total of about 6 kilograms, worth around HK$7 million (about RM3.65 million). Reportedly, he refused to reveal his occupation to investigators, adding an air of mystery to the incident. Police are currently investigating the ins and outs of the case.
Upon receiving the report, police rushed to the scene. The victim had injuries on his hands and legs and was bleeding, but was conscious when sent to North Lantau Hospital and was later transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.
At the crime scene, a blood-stained cloth and first aid dressing were left behind. Police reviewed CCTV footage and discovered that at the time of the incident, a private car with fake license plates was parked in the lot. Including the driver, there were four men in the car. Among them, three men aged between 20 and 30, wearing caps and masks, immediately got out of the car and robbed the victim’s backpack at knifepoint when he appeared. The robbers then jumped back in the private car and fled the parking lot. Police are searching for the private car and the suspects on the run.
According to reports, the victim is a local man who had just returned to Hong Kong by flight before the incident. After disembarking, he carried his backpack and walked to the first floor of Parking Lot No.3, planning to drive his Tesla electric car. While doing so, three knife-wielding attackers suddenly appeared and tried to rob him. Realizing the danger, the victim attempted to escape but was caught and slashed on his hands and legs. Amidst the chaos, the robbers snatched the victim’s backpack and fled the scene in their private car.
