(Miri, 12th July) Dato Gerawat Gala, Sarawak Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) and State Assemblyman for Mulu, attended the “PETRONAS Uplifting Lives” basic medical equipment handover ceremony held at the Long Banga Health Clinic in Baram today. He witnessed the handover of medical and non-medical equipment worth over RM50,000 jointly donated by PETRONAS and the Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI), aimed at enhancing the service capabilities of the clinic.
The handover ceremony was held from 11am to 1pm today. The donation includes medical equipment worth a total of RM31,705 and non-medical equipment worth RM18,497.20, aiming to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of Long Banga Clinic in health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.

The donated medical equipment includes a defibrillator (RM19,500), syringe pump (RM3,300), infusion pump (RM3,850), digital blood pressure monitor (RM165), portable fetal doppler (RM850), lower limb immobiliser (RM1,100), head immobiliser (RM380), and two trauma kits (total RM2,560).
The donated non-medical equipment includes a laptop (RM3,399), printer (RM719), 14kg washing machine (RM980), brush cutter (RM599), 5 office chairs (RM1,999.50), manual sprayer (RM299.90), steel filing cabinet (RM899.90), 5 solar street lights (RM1,750), wooden filing cabinet (RM350), speaker with microphone (RM780), 2 office tables (RM780), 2 standing fans (RM500), 3 foldable tables (RM840), 4 mattresses (RM1,600), and transport costs from Miri to Long Banga (RM3,000).
In his speech, Dato Gerawat Gala expressed hope that local residents would make good use of this new batch of equipment to improve community health standards. He also expressed gratitude to PETRONAS and SABATI for their longstanding support of medical services in remote areas.
He said that this contribution not only enhances the clinic’s daily operations but also symbolizes society’s concern for the well-being of healthcare in remote communities.
Distinguished guests attending the ceremony included SABATI Executive Committee Member Datin Esther Mujan Balan, PETRONAS Sarawak General Manager Norazibah Md Rabu, Public Health Medicine Specialist Dr Noor Izni (representing Miri Divisional Health Office), Pertama FerroAlloys Sdn Bhd General Manager Mr. Yuki Nakamura, Long Banga Community Leader Robin Udau, Health Clinic Advisory Panel Chairman Lawai Lahang, Village Committee representatives, and PETRONAS staff.
This donation showcases a proactive collaboration between corporations and NGOs in continuously improving rural healthcare conditions.
