(Kuching, 22nd) Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg arrived in London on the night of September 21 (Sunday) to begin a five-day working visit, focusing on education, economy, and semiconductor technology.
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), this visit is part of the Sarawak government's commitment to strengthening Sarawak’s position on the global stage, particularly in human capital development and in establishing strategic partnerships with high-tech industries.
During his stay in London, the Premier will attend several key events, including an exchange with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) on the morning of September 23 (Tuesday), followed by a working visit to Henley Business School in the afternoon.
On September 24 (Wednesday), he will participate in the SMD Semiconductor Project held at the UK Microelectronics Centre, an event that will witness the launch of new technologies as well as the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with industry partners from the UK and Europe.
As part of the itinerary, the Sarawak Premier will also deliver a keynote speech at ExCeL London, titled 'Building the Integrated Silicon Longhouse: Sarawak’s Blueprint for Accelerating Global Investment and Industrial Impact.'
This working visit is expected to conclude on September 25 (Thursday).
This initiative is anticipated to open up more opportunities for Sarawak to collaborate with international partners in the fields of education, research, and technological innovation, in line with Sarawak's vision to become a regional semiconductor hub.
Accompanying him is State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
