On the 8th, police in Hua Hin, Thailand intercepted a white BMW and seized 166 kilograms of methamphetamine, arresting a 20-year-old Malaysian man for investigation.

According to Thai media 'Hua Hin Today', Hua Hin police received intelligence that a white BMW carrying a large quantity of drugs would be passing through the area. Officers then set up a checkpoint at Hua Hin Soi 8 around 12:30 am on August 8.

Police said that as the driver approached the checkpoint, he attempted to evade inspection. Officers immediately pursued the vehicle and intercepted it near a convenience store beside the Hua Hin Grand Hotel.

The driver's identity was confirmed to be a 20-year-old Malaysian man named Julian Ong Hwei Shen.

Police found several suitcases inside the BMW. The suspect claimed that these suitcases did not belong to him and also said he did not know the passwords to open them.

After taking the vehicle and suspect back to the checkpoint, and with the suspect's consent, police conducted a search. Officers stated that the suitcases contained a total of 166 kilograms of meth.

The BMW was also seized as evidence.

The suspect and the seized items have been handed over to investigators at the Hua Hin police station for further legal procedures.

According to reports, police said this interception was the result of an investigation into a suspected drug trafficking network. This trafficking group considers Hua Hin a transit station, using cars to transport drugs from Bangkok to southern regions of Thailand.

The meth would be distributed in Hua Hin, then sent to Hat Yai and three other southern border provinces.

Authorities revealed that the batch of drugs was ordered by a Chinese national based in Bangkok, suspected of involvement in so-called 'grey industry' (grey area business activities). This person instructed the trafficker to deliver the drugs to a designated location.

Police stated that the investigation into this large trafficking network is still ongoing.
