(Miri 19th) The Gong De Tang Committee of Miri De Jiao Zi Xing Ge will hold a grand Winter Sacrifice Ceremony at the Gong De Tang on December 15th (Sunday, 11th month, 15th day of the Jiachen year, according to the lunar calendar) at 8:30 AM. They will devoutly prepare offerings such as fresh flowers, fruits, rice wine, incense paper, candles, and silk to perform the traditional Chinese sacrificial ceremony, which includes three kneelings and nine kowtows, as well as five offerings to worship the spiritual leaders enshrined in the temple. A new spiritual leader enthronement ceremony will also be held on the same day, with the Buddhist Society's chanting group invited to recite scriptures for all the spiritual leaders in the Gong De Tang.
The main purpose of holding this Winter Sacrifice Ceremony is to promote traditional Chinese culture among the Chinese community, encouraging the families of the spiritual leaders to worship and offer respect to their ancestors and predecessors enshrined in the Gong De Tang as a gesture of reverence for their ancestors and remembrance of ancestral grace. It also calls on all families of the spiritual leaders to actively participate in the Spring Sacrifice Ceremony and continue the traditional Chinese culture, showcasing the virtues of filial piety and establishing harmonious and happy family relationships.
On that day, the temple will also distribute sacrificial blessing items to each spiritual leader's family. The families of the spiritual leaders must bring the spiritual leader plaque issued by the temple to receive the blessings on-site. Families who have not yet received the spiritual leader plaque can collect it from the Zi Xing Ge De Jiao Association Secretariat starting today.
All worship and sacrificial ceremonies on that day will be arranged by the Gong De Tang Committee, and families of the spiritual leaders are prohibited from bringing offerings. A lunch will be provided after the sacrificial ceremony, and it is hoped that families of the spiritual leaders will actively attend.
The temple has used mobile phone text messages, newspaper advertisements, and press releases to announce the dates of the annual Spring and Winter Sacrifice Ceremonies. If there is any change in contact numbers, they must be re-registered at the temple's secretariat.
