Taiwanese entertainer NONO (Chen Xuanyu) was accused in 2023 by multiple women of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and molestation. Following the earlier upholding of the original verdict in the second trial, the court found him guilty of one count of attempted forcible intercourse and sentenced him to two years and six months in prison. There has now been a new development. The prosecution has decided not to appeal the outcome of the second trial, hoping for the verdict to be finalized quickly so that NONO can enter prison to serve his sentence as soon as possible.
The Shilin District Prosecutors Office had earlier indicted NONO on seven counts; both the first and second trials recognized only one count of attempted forcible intercourse as established, maintaining the two year and six month sentence. Additionally, two women accused him separately of sexual assault and molestation. After a renewed investigation, the cases were prosecuted again, but on the 13th of this month, the court found him not guilty due to insufficient evidence, though these rulings can still be appealed. The High Prosecutors Office stated that since there are no grounds meeting the requirements for a third-instance appeal, it has decided not to appeal.
