(Miri, 15th) — A brawl in Bakam, Miri, has drawn public attention after being circulated on social media. Police have opened an investigation and arrested five male suspects for the case.
Miri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Lee Bing Chiang, stated that the police are investigating the case under Section 148 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
He said that following intelligence, police successfully arrested three local men and two foreign men, and seized several weapons believed to have been used in the incident.
All suspects are currently remanded at the Miri Central Police Station until April 19th to assist with investigations.
The police emphasize that they take all violent acts, disturbances, and carrying of dangerous weapons in public places very seriously, and warn the public not to break the law.
