Commemorating the Victory of the August Revolution and the 80th Anniversary of National Day: Vietnam Holds Military Parade

On the 2nd, Vietnam held a military parade in Hanoi, the capital, to commemorate the victory of the August Revolution and the 80th anniversary of National Day. More than 16,000 people from the army, public security, militia and other departments participated in the inspection.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Su Linh, pointed out that 80 years ago, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh solemnly read the 'Declaration of Independence', announcing the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam—today's Socialist Republic of Vietnam—thus becoming the first people's democratic country in Southeast Asia, ushering in a new era of national independence and freedom. Since that historic moment, the Vietnamese nation has embarked on a new journey: establishing people’s power, defending the motherland, resolutely steering the country toward the path of socialism, and striving for the goals of 'prosperous people, strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization.'

He emphasized that at this sacred moment, the government solemnly remembers the ancestors, expresses infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, pays tribute to all revolutionary predecessors, and commemorates the millions of compatriots and soldiers who sacrificed and dedicated themselves for national independence, freedom, unity, and the happiness of the people.

In the sky above Ba Dinh Square, Yak-130 trainer aircraft, Su-30MK2 fighter jets, Casa C-295 and C-212i transport aircraft, as well as Mi-171, Mi-17, and Mi-8 helicopter formations carrying the party and national flags, soared through the air.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army honor guard unit was invited to participate in this parade. Also invited to participate in the parade were contingents from Russia, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, and Belarus.
