(Ecuador, 16th) — The President of the South American country Ecuador, Noboa, arrived in Beijing, the capital of China, on Sunday (August 16), starting an eight-day visit to China.
According to CCTV News, Noboa arrived in Beijing on Sunday morning, marking his first state visit to China.
China is Ecuador's second-largest trading partner, exporting automobiles and auto parts, electromechanical products, steel, and more to Ecuador. Meanwhile, Ecuador is China's eighth-largest trading partner in Latin America, exporting crude oil, shrimp, minerals, and more to China. In 2025, the bilateral trade volume between China and Ecuador was 17.33 billion US dollars (70.846 billion RMB).
Earlier, a spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in response to a reporter's question that Ecuador is an important country in Latin America, and China and Ecuador are comprehensive strategic partners. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, relations between China and Ecuador have maintained a good momentum of development. The two sides have signed the Belt and Road cooperation documents and a Free Trade Agreement.
The spokesperson said that Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold talks with Noboa, while Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Zhao Leji will each meet with him.
It is noted that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Ecuador.
