(Rio de Janeiro, 8th) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar said that the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings, to be held in Kuala Lumpur from October 26 to 28 this year, will be the largest in history.

He pointed out that several heads of government from non-ASEAN countries have confirmed their attendance, including Italian Prime Minister Meloni and Brazilian President Lula, whom he met earlier this month; South African President Ramaphosa, who is the current G20 chair, has also expressed his intention to attend.

After completing his visits to Italy and France, Anwar then attended the 17th BRICS Summit for leaders held in Brazil. At the press conference concluding his Brazil trip, he stated that Canada's new Prime Minister Carney has also confirmed participation.

"This means that the upcoming ASEAN Summit in October will be livelier than ever before, with not only ASEAN member states and regular partners like Japan, South Korea, and China, but also many other countries in attendance.

"I believe this is a heavy responsibility... May God bless us, and let us shoulder this responsibility together."

Currently, ASEAN's ten member countries include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines.

In addition to these ten member states, regular summit partners also include Australia, Canada, China, the European Union, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia, and the United States.

The 46th ASEAN Summit, held in Kuala Lumpur this May, not only included the 2nd ASEAN–Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, but also held the first ASEAN–GCC–China Summit.
