Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar used a Song Dynasty poem, “Where the mountains and rivers seem to have no more road, a new village suddenly emerges amidst lush willows and bright flowers,” to describe Malaysia-China relations, stating that the two countries can transcend all uncertainties and embrace the future with shared goals.

Anwar quoted the poem in Chinese during the 'Joyful Spring Festival' global launch event tonight, joking that although his Chinese pronunciation may not be accurate, everyone would understand.

He also shared his surprise during his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, noting that aside from economic trade, peace, and bilateral friendship, Xi also mentioned the importance of respecting various civilizations and promoting dialogue between them.

“Few leaders mention the importance and uniqueness of different civilizations.”

He highlighted that people of all ethnic groups in Malaysia celebrate various festivals, considering them as part of our culture, a familiar phenomenon in our country.

“We celebrate the nation's diversity because we want to ensure peace and continued inclusivity in Malaysia, making every Malaysian proud of the country.”

Anwar also expressed hope that more Chinese tourists would visit Malaysia.

He took the opportunity to wish, “Happy New Year, good year ahead, good every year,” to the world.

Other attending guests included Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid, Speaker of the House of Commons Tan Sri Johari Abdul, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, China's Minister of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping, and Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing, among others.
