(Bandar Seri Begawan, 21st) Sun De’an, President of the World Chinese Writers Association and President of the Brunei Chinese Literature and Art Association, officially received a delegation from the Guangzhou Chinese Culture Institute yesterday in Brunei. The delegation included four members: delegation leader Dean Wang Zhenzhen, Zhou Bing, Wang Hao, and Zhang Haixia. From the local side, in addition to President Sun De’an, representatives such as Chen Lizhen, Xing Xiuzhu, and Zhu Yunli were also present. Both sides engaged in a meaningful cultural exchange and symposium.

The meeting was held in a warm yet solemn atmosphere. President Sun De’an first extended a warm welcome to President Wang Zhenzhen and her delegation on behalf of the World Chinese Writers Association and the Brunei Chinese Literature and Art Association. He pointed out that Guangzhou, as the core area of Lingnan culture, is a vital bridge for Chinese culture into Southeast Asia; and that the Guangzhou Chinese Culture Institute has achieved remarkable results in cultural inheritance, academic promotion and talent cultivation. He noted that this visit is a great support and encouragement for the cultural endeavors of the Chinese community in Brunei.

President Sun introduced that the Brunei Chinese Literature and Art Association has been committed to promoting Chinese literary and artistic activities, calligraphy, painting, and writers’ exchanges, and actively leads the youth to engage with, understand, and inherit Chinese culture. Although the Chinese community in Brunei is not large in scale, their love and perseverance for cultural pursuits has never faltered.

At the same time, he gave the delegation a brief introduction to the mission and development of the World Chinese Writers Association (WCWA). The WCWA is dedicated to uniting Chinese writers worldwide, promoting research, exchange, and the spread of Chinese literature. It regularly hosts the World Chinese Literature Congress, Writers’ Forums, and international exchange programs, connecting friends of literature across five continents, and creating a shared and supportive community for overseas Chinese literature.

President Sun also shared his decades of experience in participating in community and cultural building, spanning education, associations, arts, and other fields, emphasizing that culture knows no borders, and the exchange that day was the best illustration of this.

The delegation from Guangzhou expressed their admiration for the cultural vitality of Brunei’s Chinese community and looked forward to further cooperation with Brunei in lectures, training, youth exchanges, cultural events, and literary and artistic activities.

Both parties agreed that this meeting laid a solid foundation for deeper cultural cooperation in the future and would inject new momentum into the promotion of Chinese culture in Southeast Asia.

The meeting concluded successfully in a warm and harmonious atmosphere. In closing, President Sun De’an wished the delegation a fruitful and smooth trip in Brunei.
