Yu Menglong’s friend, Li Xiaolan, posted on Weibo on the 26th: “9/24 Rain, all else sunny,” along with several photos of Hongguangshan Grand Buddha Temple in Urumqi. Although Yu Menglong was not mentioned directly, as Urumqi is his hometown, the public widely interpreted the post as symbolizing the return of Yu Menglong’s ashes to his hometown for eternal rest. There are also rumors that Yu’s mother has signed a letter of forgiveness and even went temporarily “missing,” but these reports have not yet been officially confirmed.
