Golden Melody Award-winning singer “Jam” Hsiao Ching-teng has struggled with dyslexia since childhood. Recently, while recording the show "Fifty Kilometers Taohuawu 6", he opened up about his painful childhood and admitted that because he couldn’t recognize characters, he couldn’t tell the difference between shampoo and body wash while bathing, and was even scolded for it.
Jam Hsiao shared on the show that he has had dyslexia since he was a child: “For people with dyslexia, seeing a big block of text is like looking at a picture.” He revealed that one of his most vivid childhood memories was that every time he showered, he had to open the bathroom door and ask his family which bottle was shampoo and which was body wash.
Hsiao said that as a child, when he reached out to his family for help, he was scolded: “Are you stupid? Can’t you read for yourself?” This response is something he still can't forget, and he helplessly said, “But I… I just couldn’t do it when I was young. I just couldn’t read.” In just a few words, he revealed the grievances of not being understood back then, moving many viewers who said they felt sorry for him.
