(Miri, 5th) The Miri police recently launched an anti-illegal racing operation, seizing a total of 4 illegally modified motorcycles and issuing 28 fines for various traffic offenses.
"The purpose of this operation is to combat illegal racing activities, ensuring road users comply with traffic regulations and safeguarding public safety."
Out of the 13 vehicles inspected, 4 motorcycles were seized for further investigation due to illegal structural modifications, suspected of violating Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Additionally, 14 members of the public were inspected, and 28 police fines (PDRM(K) 257) were issued for various traffic violations.
Farhan emphasized that Miri police will continue to conduct such enforcement operations sporadically, advising motorcyclists not to engage in illegal racing activities, not to modify vehicle structures arbitrarily, and to refrain from gathering on the roadside to prevent traffic obstruction and noise disturbances, which affect public tranquility.
"Negligence by drivers or riders not only endangers themselves but also poses a threat to the safety of other road users."
