Iran Attacks GCC Countries Fu Cong: China Does Not Agree

Published at Apr 04, 2026 10:19 am
The US-Iran war continues, and Iran's retaliatory actions have affected Persian Gulf states. On the 2nd, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, stated that "China does not agree with Iran's attacks on GCC countries," condemned indiscriminate attacks on civilians, and emphasized that the safety of navigation routes should not be disrupted.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is comprised of six member countries: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.

On the 2nd, the UN Security Council held a special meeting to discuss cooperation with the GCC. Fu Cong offered suggestions regarding the current situation in the Middle East, emphasizing that the origin of this war is the US and Israel launching military attacks against Iran. However, China does not agree with Iran's attacks on GCC countries, condemns all indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians and non-military targets, and states that the safety of navigation routes should not be disrupted.

In light of the current complex and volatile international and regional situation, Fu Cong called on the United Nations and the GCC to strengthen dialogue and cooperation, jointly practice genuine multilateralism, and uphold an international order based on international law. He pointed out that force cannot bring peace and that political solutions are the fundamental way out. The US and Israeli attacks on Iran are clear violations of the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the basic norms of international relations. The fundamental way to prevent the situation from worsening is for the US and Israel to cease military actions, while the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the GCC states should be fully respected.
