(Miri, 20th) Curtin University recently welcomed the first batch of 300 students who will participate in the eagerly anticipated English Enhancement Program (EEP) in 2025.
Supported by the Sarawak Foundation, the program has now entered its second year, marking a significant step in assisting local youths in mastering the English language skills necessary for success in higher education and other fields.
Students enrolled in Curtin University's free EEP course come from various regions of Sarawak, including Miri, Subis, Bintulu, Limbang, Lawas, Sibu, Betong, Mukah, Niah, and Marudi. The fully-funded nature of the course ensures that financial constraints do not impede students from receiving quality education and provides a 300 Ringgit allowance to support their living expenses during the course.
A standout feature of the EEP is the provision of free accommodation for non-local students, helping to create an immersive and inclusive learning experience. This initiative allows students to focus on learning without the distraction of accommodation concerns, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
Beyond the direct impact on students, the EEP also demonstrates the strong collaboration between Curtin University and the Sarawak Foundation. Curtin University is one of the five higher education institutions owned by the Sarawak government through the Sarawak Foundation. This cooperation ensures that local students have the necessary tools and support to thrive in their academic and career paths.
