Hunan Man Randomly Stabs People Outside Elementary School: 2 Dead, 3 Injured Including Students

According to reports circulating online, a heinous incident occurred in Leiyang, Hunan, China, on the evening of the 3rd. A man indiscriminately attacked people with a knife on the street, resulting in multiple people being slashed, including students. The leaked footage is extremely graphic and horrifying. Police confirmed in an evening statement that the incident resulted in 2 deaths and 3 injuries.

At around 6 p.m. on August 3rd, in the jurisdiction of Caizichi Subdistrict, Leiyang City, Hunan, a man attacked people with a weapon, injuring several innocent bystanders at the scene.

According to an eyewitness surnamed Zhang, the incident occurred near the gate of Ruolan Elementary School in Leiyang. A man around 30 years old rushed in from an intersection carrying a knife and began slashing people, even running into a mahjong parlor to attack more victims. After injuring several people, he was subdued by police who quickly arrived at the scene.

The footage from the scene shows one person lying on the grass behind a residential building, and another injured individual lying beside a road, while medical personnel rushed to transport the wounded on stretchers.

Another video shows a man, suspected to be the assailant, with a crew cut, wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt, being subdued. According to local residents, the suspect attacked people indiscriminately and all the injured were children. One injured girl is reportedly in critical condition, kneeling in a pool of blood.

Residents further revealed that the attacker wore black during the assault and changed clothes at home afterward, explaining the circulation of two different photos.

A local netizen from Hunan commented online that the video from the scene is very bloody, mentioning a 17-year-old girl who was attacked so badly that she was left mutilated and her grandmother was sobbing in utter heartbreak.

The Leiyang City Public Security Bureau issued an official statement in the evening responding to the incident. The notice stated that at about 6:00 p.m. on August 3rd, a case of intentional injury occurred in the jurisdiction of Caizichi Subdistrict, resulting in 2 deaths and 3 injuries. The police responded swiftly, and the 31-year-old suspect, Duan Mou Chao, was apprehended and taken into custody.
