Ukrainian President Zelensky stated on the 13th that European and American leaders have reached a five-point consensus on the principles for negotiating with Russia.

Visiting the German capital Berlin, Zelensky made this statement to the media during a joint press conference held with German Chancellor Merz.

Zelensky said that the five-point consensus includes that the Ukrainian side must directly participate in the peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict; all matters related to Ukraine can only be discussed with Ukraine; preparations should be made to convene a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia; a ceasefire must be implemented with explicit security guarantees for Ukraine; and if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire, sanctions against Russia should be strengthened.

He pointed out that on that day, he and Merz, together with U.S. President Trump, European Commission President von der Leyen, NATO Secretary-General Rutte, Finnish President Stubb, French President Macron, Italian Prime Minister Meloni, and Polish President Nawrocki, held a video conference.

Trump and Russian President Putin are scheduled to meet in Alaska, USA, on the 15th. On the night of the 9th, the leaders of six European countries including the UK, France, and Germany, as well as von der Leyen, issued a joint statement calling for any diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis to protect the significant security interests of Europe and Ukraine.
