(Bintulu, 7th) A Proton Persona sedan that had been abandoned for a long time at the Emart Apartment area on Jalan Sungai Plan, Kidurong, was destroyed by fire last night.
According to the statement released by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Center (PGO), authorities received a fire alert at 11:54 pm, and firefighters from the Kidurong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Kidurong) arrived at the scene just two minutes later.
"Upon arrival, it was discovered that the entire vehicle was already engulfed in flames. The fire and rescue team immediately used a primary water hose (salur bantu mula) to start firefighting efforts. The fire was brought under control at 12:06 am and was completely extinguished by 12:12 am," the department said in a statement.
No casualties were reported in the incident, which only involved one long-abandoned vehicle.
A total of six firefighters and one FRT fire engine participated in the firefighting operation, and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) also assisted at the scene.
