Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming and Singapore's Minister for National Development Desmond Lee held a bilateral meeting to review the progress of cooperation between the two countries in the field of sustainable urbanization, and also explored potential for deepening cooperation in the future.
The Ministry of Housing issued a statement today saying that during the more than two-hour meeting, the two ministers reviewed various cooperation projects under previously signed Memorandums of Understanding, and held in-depth discussions on opportunities for cooperation in sustainable housing and modern construction technology.
The statement said that Nga Kor Ming proposed to strengthen cooperation through talent exchange and knowledge sharing between the two countries, including learning from Singapore and drawing on its successful experience in public housing development to enhance Malaysia's housing programs.
"Singapore's Housing & Development Board (HDB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) are internationally renowned. We hope to bring in experts to share their experiences, so that Malaysia's housing development programs can continue to improve."
The statement said that Nga Kor Ming also formally expressed Malaysia's full support for Singapore to assume the 2027 ASEAN rotating chairmanship. He believes that Singapore will continue to lead regional cooperation amidst global turbulence, establishing sustainability and inclusivity as core values.
The statement said that Nga Kor Ming also officially invited Desmond Lee to attend the upcoming 4th ASEAN-China Ministerial Roundtable on Construction (ACMROCH), to be held in Ipoh from July 31 to August 2, to jointly advance the regional housing development agenda.
