(Manila, 18th) The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) announced yesterday that seven people were arrested on suspicion of operating an illegal gambling center in Makati City, including five foreign nationals.
CIDG Director Brigadier General Abrugena stated at a press conference held at Camp Crame, Quezon City, that those arrested include three Taiwanese men, one Myanmar man, one Chinese woman, as well as two Filipino women. The operation was carried out on August 15.
He said that these seven individuals are involved in operating illegal online gambling, providing online gambling services to overseas clients.
Police seized 59 computer monitors, 27 desktop computers, 10 computer processors, information and communication devices, 25 registered SIM cards, 227 various identification cards, and related business documents at the scene.
The suspects are currently in custody. Police intend to charge them under Presidential Decree No. 1602 (Regulation on Punishment for Illegal Gambling Activities), Administrative Order No. 74, the 2012 Cybercrime Prevention Act (Republic Act No. 10175), and the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998 (Republic Act No. 8484).
