META is planning to implement a brand new subscription mechanism for Facebook users when sharing links in posts and comments. Without subscribing to this mechanism, each user will only be able to share up to 2 links per month.

According to Hong Kong tech magazine HKEPC, once this new subscription mechanism launches, the number of times that links can be shared in posts or comments on Facebook fan pages will be limited to a maximum of 2 per month.

To exceed this quota, users must subscribe to the 'Meta One' service.

According to information, this restriction mechanism—called 'Add more links to posts or comments with Meta One'—ties the number of links users can share per month in posts or comments to the subscription tier of Meta One.

Under the free plan, users can only share up to 2 links in posts or comments every month. Notably, even if a user chooses the paid 'Basic Plan' at $14.99 (about RM61.20) per month, the quota for link sharing remains at 2 links per month, with no upgrade in cap.

For users needing a higher link sharing quota, they must opt for a higher-level Meta One plan. The 'Advanced Plan' is priced at $49.99 (about RM204) per month, and increases the quota to 8 links per month.

The 'Expert Plan' costs $149.99 (about RM613) per month, raising the cap to 20 links per month. To enjoy unlimited link sharing, users must subscribe to the top-tier 'Premier Plan,' which costs as much as $499.99 (about RM2,043) per month.

According to reports, this new policy will impact content media, social media admins, and e-commerce operators who rely on Facebook for organic traffic.

In the future, operators will only be able to obtain more link sharing quota by subscribing to a Meta One plan, or achieve external traffic redirection by directly purchasing Meta’s official advertisements.
