(Kuching, 8th) The Director of the Sarawak Public Works Department, Cassidy Morris, stated that of the projects implemented by the department in 2024, approximately 30% have been completed ahead of schedule.

He expressed satisfaction with the department's performance, noting that there were no significant delays or stagnation.

"Through observation, I believe the Sarawak Public Works Department has performed excellently in executing the projects it has undertaken. Some projects have been completed on time, while others are still ongoing."

He emphasized that the department has progressed projects smoothly, especially when facing contractors with fewer commitments, taking a serious stance that has earned the department trust and success.

Cassidy believes that the Sarawak Public Works Department can maintain this momentum, ensuring smooth completion of all projects in 2025 and beyond.

He also introduced several key projects that were completed ahead of schedule, including the soon-to-be-completed Pan Borneo Highway project.

Cassidy pointed out that the progress of multiple coastal road and bridge projects is also going well, such as the Batang Lupar Bridge and Marudi Bridge.

"The Marudi Bridge is a typical example, initially planned for a longer construction period, but the contractor completed the work ahead of schedule and delivered excellent results."

He disclosed that the Sarawak Public Works Department performed exceptionally well in executing its projects. Some projects are completed, while others are ongoing, including projects valued below 50 million Ringgit approved under the Malaysia Agreement 1963, which are also progressing well.

Director Cassidy, while attending a luncheon event between the Sarawak Public Works Department and the media, stated that such events aim to enhance relationships and cooperation between the department and local media.

He emphasized that the media plays a critical role in disseminating accurate information, aiding effective communication between the Sarawak Public Works Department and the public.

He believes good cooperation with the media will help improve the quality of the department's services and plans to continue holding similar events in the future to work jointly with the media to promote the public works department's initiatives.
