India has released “standard names” for 27 locations in the disputed area of Arunachal Pradesh. In response, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that India’s actions cannot change the fact that the Zangnan region belongs to China.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that the Zangnan region is Chinese territory and that China has never recognized India’s illegal “Arunachal Pradesh.”

Guo Jiakun said that India's publication of so-called “standard names” in an attempt to replace the place names long used by China is illegal and invalid, and cannot change the fact that the Zangnan region belongs to China.

According to the NDTV website, the official Indian map last Friday (August 7) officially labeled 27 locations and landforms in Arunachal Pradesh with “standard names.”

The official Indian statement said: “The official marking of these place names on the map of Arunachal Pradesh drawn by the Survey of India aims to help the public accurately identify and raise awareness of these place names.”
