(Kuala Lumpur, 23rd) Deputy Director of the Police Internal Security and Public Order Department, Dato' Nik Rosli, revealed that there is a significant gap between the number of auxiliary police positions approved for enterprises nationwide and the actual number employed.
He stated that, according to police records, enterprises nationwide have been approved for a total of 56,000 auxiliary police positions, but currently only 27,000 are employed. The gap is mainly due to some enterprises reducing their staffing based on their own considerations.
"The police have issued reminders and warnings, urging enterprises to fill these vacancies as soon as possible. Doing so not only helps overall public security, but also provides job opportunities for those who are still unemployed to join the ranks of auxiliary police."
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday after attending the 39th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysia Auxiliary Police Association (MAPA), he was accompanied by the association's president, Dato' Tn Aswati.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday after attending the 39th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysia Auxiliary Police Association (MAPA), he was accompanied by the association's president, Dato' Tn Aswati.
He said that, compared to hiring regular security companies, establishing their own auxiliary police forces brings clear advantages to enterprises.
He pointed out that the image of auxiliary police directly reflects the image of the police force, as they are granted full law enforcement powers within gazetted areas in accordance with the law.
He said that auxiliary police, under the Police Act 1967, are authorized to carry out patrols, prevention, control, and investigations within designated areas and asset perimeters, while regular security guards do not have the legal authority to make formal arrests.
