(Sibu, 26th) A cat, suspected of chasing food, got trapped on a tall coconut tree on Jalan Jelutong Barat in Sibu and was successfully rescued by the fire department last night.
Sibu Fire and Rescue Station chief, Alaman Chik, stated that the fire department received an emergency call at 10:58 PM and immediately dispatched nine team members and a fire truck to the scene.
"Upon arrival, it was found that the cat had been trapped on the tall coconut tree for about two days. Nearby residents heard sounds from the tree and discovered the cat's presence," he said in a statement today.
He added that due to the height of the coconut tree, the rescue operation was challenging, and the fire department used a specialized ladder for the rescue.
"Fortunately, the cat was successfully captured and safely brought down without any injuries," he explained.
After the rescue operation, the fire department also patrolled the surrounding area to ensure safety and prevent further danger.
Once safety was confirmed, the operation ended, and the team returned to the fire station.
This incident highlights the fire department's preparedness and capability in handling incidents involving animals, effectively responding to various emergencies besides saving lives and properties.
