Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez stated on the 9th that the United States is withdrawing from a series of international cooperation mechanisms and choosing isolationism in order to continue its barbaric acts within the international order.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Rodriguez said on social media that given the US government's previous decisions to abandon multilateralism advocated by the majority of the international community, it is not surprising that the US has withdrawn from 31 United Nations entities. While stopping funding for these agencies and refusing to honor its financial commitments to support developing countries, the US has instead increased military spending to a record high in order to maintain its military threats and acts of aggression.
Rodriguez emphasized that the United States is withdrawing from a range of international cooperation mechanisms aimed at promoting sustainable development, gender equality, responding to climate change, and combating racism. They avoid any related discussions, choose isolationism, so as to continue their barbaric acts in the international order.
The White House issued a statement on the 7th saying that President Trump signed a memorandum instructing the United States to withdraw from 31 United Nations entities and 35 non-UN organizations, a total of 66 international organizations. In the presidential memorandum, Trump claimed that the operations of these organizations and entities run counter to US national interests, security, economic prosperity, or sovereignty.
