The Legendary 'Naked Bird-Walking Man' of Taiwan's Hiking Circles Reappears

Taiwan's 'naked hiking bird-walking man' has once again been spotted, with his elusive presence captured, but no one has yet managed to catch him! It is reported that this repeat offender has not been hiking in this man-and-nature-as-one manner for the first time. For at least two years now, sightings of his naturist hiking have emerged in the mountain areas around Taipei. However, no one has ever identified him, nor have the police apprehended him. He's rarer than a region-exclusive Pokémon, earning him the reputation of an urban legend in the hiking community.

According to SET News, on the 16th, a netizen caught sight of the 'naked hiking bird-walking man' on Jian Tan Mountain. The man was wearing a beanie and sunglasses, but was completely naked from the neck down. It is estimated he is around 40 years old; perhaps due to frequent exercise, he has a slightly flat stomach, and it appears he regularly sunbathes, as apart from his fair buttocks, the rest of his body is noticeably tanned.

The netizen happened to photograph the 'naked hiking bird-walking man' from an angle where the trail railing conveniently blocked his private parts from view. However, those closer by would have been in the front row for quite the show, seeing all rare sights and 'a hundred birds facing the phoenix' up close.

There happened to be three women in the photo. Based on their position, it is speculated that there is a restroom nearby. One woman in a white shirt and hat is standing next to a washbasin in the photo.

The comment section under this post exploded, showing that many netizens have encountered this urban legend. Someone commented: 'He’s been spotted on Elephant Mountain, Hutou Mountain, Dongyan Mountain, Yangmingshan area, Tucheng Tianshang Mountain area, and Treasure Hill. In the hilly suburbs of Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Taoyuan City, his traces have appeared—so disgusting. How come he still hasn’t been caught? How much longer do hikers and kids have to keep seeing this filth? Just two days ago, he was bird-walking at Elephant Mountain again.'

Someone else responded, saying they once tried to catch up and grab him, but perhaps due to having no wind resistance, the 'naked hiking bird-walking man' zips by like the wind—impossible to keep up with. 'Yesterday at around 3 p.m. on the East Peak path of Yangming Qixing Mountain I ran into him! He came out of a turn, completely naked with nothing covered. I thought I was hallucinating—by the time I realized, he was already coming my way (he was descending). I was so scared that I could only turn my back to him, hug my head, and tightly close my eyes.'
