Datuk Seri Santhara Kumar, the Director of the People's Justice Party's (PKR) International Affairs Committee, announced that he will be contesting for the position of Hang Tuah Jaya Division Chief in the upcoming PKR party elections; he also intends to run for the position of National Vice-president.
Santhara Kumar, who is also the Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, stated that he is contesting for these positions to provide the best service to the constituents of the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary seat and to prepare for next year’s Malacca state elections.
He mentioned that with his experience from running for the Hang Tuah Jaya Division Chief in 2022, contesting in the 15th General Election for Bagan Datuk constituency, and collaborating with Hang Tuah Jaya MP and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Adam Adli, he believes he can offer the best service to the people.
He stated this after attending a breaking fast dinner and a special press conference for the nomination of the Hang Tuah Jaya Division on Friday night.
Regarding the central party positions, he expressed his intention to contest for the National Vice-president position, but it is still subject to the outcome of the division elections.
Santhara Kumar previously served as the National Vice-president of PKR in 2014.
The current Hang Tuah Jaya Division Chief is Mohd Rafee, who is also the PKR Malacca State Chairman.
PKR will conduct the division election voting from April 11 to 20, while the central elections will be held on May 24.
