Indonesia’s rescue authorities said on the 15th that the 7.7-magnitude earthquake and multiple strong aftershocks that struck the waters near Flores Island in eastern Indonesia on the morning of the same day have caused at least 20 deaths.
Due to the earthquake, several domestic flights to East Nusa Tenggara Province were canceled.
Rescue personnel said, according to the latest reports, the earthquake has caused 20 deaths and 6 injuries.
East Nusa Tenggara Province Governor Viktor Laiskodat said multiple buildings were damaged in the earthquake, and some roads were blocked due to landslides.
Television footage showed that the strong quake caused buildings to collapse in multiple areas on Flores Island, and a large number of residents fled to the streets for safety.
The epicenter of this earthquake was located in the waters 30 kilometers northeast of Mbay town in East Nusa Tenggara Province, at a depth of 15 kilometers.
