A landslide occurred in Geoje City, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, with the ground floor of an apartment building buried in the early hours of the 17th, trapping more than 20 people. Rescue workers saved two people, and another person was found in cardiac arrest and later confirmed dead.
Geoje City has recently been affected by heavy rain. Since the 15th, cumulative rainfall has exceeded 780 millimeters, with 400 millimeters falling between the night of the 16th and the following early morning, triggering the disaster.
Authorities believe that more people may still be trapped, and rescue efforts are ongoing at the scene.
