(Bau, 27th) Two infrastructure projects in the Singai area, with a total value of RM4.6 million, have been completed, further improving the local community’s water supply and road connectivity.

The projects include the RM3 million upgrade of the Kampung Apar Singai booster pump station, and the RM1.6 million upgrade of the agricultural and rural road in Kampung Bobak Sajong, both located in the new Kuching area.

Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine & Maritime) Dato Henry Jinep, who is also the State Assemblyman for Tasik Biru, witnessed the handover ceremony for the two completed projects on Wednesday (26th).

Henry pointed out that after the upgrade, the Kampung Apar booster pump station can now supply up to 100,000 gallons of water daily, providing water supply for residents in Kampung Tabong, Kampung Apar, Kampung Barieng, and Kampung Segong.

He said the project aims to comprehensively resolve water supply issues in the affected villages, especially in households regularly experiencing low water pressure and supply interruptions.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), he made these remarks at the project handover ceremony held at the pump station.

The upgrade was implemented by the Sarawak state government through the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) program.

The project scope includes upgrading existing water pumps to provide higher water pressure, as well as laying dedicated water pipelines to improve the water supply system capacity in affected areas.

On the other hand, the approximately 2-kilometer agricultural and rural road upgrade project in Kampung Bobak Sajong has also been fully completed.

This RM1.6 million GKCDA project was executed by the Bau District Public Works Department (PWD), with construction starting on October 20, 2025, and completion on June 19, this year.

The works include road widening, relocating public utilities, constructing a drainage system, and installing related road facilities to enhance convenience and safety for road users.
