Taiwanese actress Ouyang Nana, Patty Hou, and others recently shared a CCTV post on Weibo titled 'Taiwan Must Return,' drawing attention from both Taiwan and China. The Mainland Affairs Council, alongside the Ministry of Culture, recently held a special meeting in an effort to pursue further investigations and actions, initially targeting over 20 individuals. Whether Ouyang Nana will be penalized has also attracted attention; however, the Chinese Communist Youth League has voiced support for her by stating, 'Don't be afraid, 1.4 billion Chinese people support you.'
Ouyang Nana has consistently focused her career in China and has never hidden her political stance that 'Taiwan is part of China.' She has now become a key target of administrative scrutiny by the Mainland Affairs Council, with rumors on Weibo mistakenly claiming she would be stripped of her Taiwanese citizenship, causing concern among her fans.
On October 16th, the official Weibo of the Chinese Communist Youth League reposted Taiwanese media reports regarding the Mainland Affairs Council and the Ministry of Culture's plans to investigate pro-China Taiwanese artists while establishing standards for penalizing speech and deciding on the list of individuals to be penalized. This post, 'Ouyang Nana and Other Taiwanese Artists Threatened by the Taiwanese Authorities? Don't be afraid, 1.4 billion Chinese people support you,' received numerous responses, with many Chinese netizens expressing their support for Ouyang Nana.
Recently, a video circulating online claimed 'the Taiwanese government announced the cancellation of artist Ouyang Nana's Republic of China nationality and a lifetime ban on entering Taiwan.' The Mainland Affairs Council stated on October 17th that the content is false and deliberately fabricated, manipulated by malicious individuals with the aim of eroding public trust in the government, provoking internal discord in Taiwanese society, and undermining democratic mechanisms.
As for when the 'penalties' will be announced, if artists attribute the 'reposting' to actions by their management companies, will they be able to clear their names? The Mainland Affairs Council stated that processing is ongoing for establishing standards and lists for taking action against statements, and even if artists claim it was 'handled by their management company,' this rationale will not be acknowledged or accepted.
