In the film “The Mermaid” directed by Stephen Chow, the Chinese tycoon Zheng Jifeng, who played the character of 'Mr. Zheng', later became a director himself, but has been exposed for molesting numerous underage females during casting sessions. He has now been arrested and is in custody, potentially facing a maximum of 15 years in prison. Several actresses are now coming forward, claiming they were victimized by him. One 19-year-old actress, Kan Lina, disclosed that she was sexually harassed by Zheng Jifeng when she was only 11 years old. He threatened to cut her scenes to silence her. Reflecting on the situation now, she said, “You have finally received the punishment you deserve.”

Kan Lina last night took to Weibo to open up about her traumatic experience, revealing that it happened in September 2017. At the time, she had just started first grade in middle school and saw a casting call for the movie “Legend of Pigsy” recruiting actresses for the roles of the Seven Fairies. She went to audition at Zheng Jifeng’s company and was selected. One time, he called her to his office to collect the script. Unexpectedly, after she entered the office, he followed her in, locked the door, forced a hug on her, and attempted to kiss her. She managed to push him away and escape.

Why was this never revealed? Kan Lina explained that Zheng Jifeng had threatened to remove her scenes, and as it was her first opportunity to act in a theater-released film, she didn’t want to give up such a significant opportunity, so she remained silent. She later found out that she wasn't his only victim; out of the “Seven Fairies,” six girls faced similar experiences, with Zheng Jifeng even suggesting that if they agreed to sleep with him, they could land the lead role.
