(Turkey, 26th) Turkish authorities have arrested 115 suspected members of the "Islamic State" (IS) group, on suspicion they were planning to launch attacks during the year-end holiday period.
The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement on social media on the 25th, saying that Istanbul police had obtained intelligence indicating that IS members were planning to carry out attacks in Turkey during Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
According to the statement, arrest warrants were issued for 137 suspects, and Istanbul police launched large-scale raids at 124 locations in the city. So far, 115 people have been arrested, with several handguns, some ammunition, and related documents seized. Authorities are still searching for the remaining 22 suspects.
