Directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starring Jun Ji-hyun and Ji Chang-wook, the Korean zombie film "Colony" has raked in an impressive RM30.6 million in Malaysia. Not only has it become the highest-grossing Korean film in Malaysian box office history, but it is also the top overseas market for the movie’s ticket sales outside of Korea, cementing its place as Malaysia’s biggest box office hit for the first half of 2026.

Brought in by Mega Films Distribution and co-distributed by Purple Plan, "Colony" has sparked a movie-going craze across Malaysia since its nationwide release on May 22. Thanks to its intense and thrilling plot along with stunning visual effects, the film has attracted massive audiences. Just six days after release, the box office surpassed RM10 million. With positive reviews continuing to spread, the film reached RM23.8 million within two weeks—overtaking "Train to Busan’s" long-standing record and setting a new milestone for Korean films in Malaysia.

As its run continues, "Colony"'s box office haul has surged to RM30.6 million, further solidifying its place in history and demonstrating Malaysian audiences’ strong love for Korean films, especially zombie-themed stories.

"Colony" stars Jun Ji-hyun, Ji Chang-wook, and Koo Kyo-hwan, with director Yeon Sang-ho—famed for "Train to Busan"—once again exploring themes of humanity and survival. The film also expands the zombie universe with grander disaster scenes, more nail-biting action choreography, and an upgraded infection crisis, ushering in a renewed wave of Korean zombie movie fever.#
