(Kuala Lumpur, 15th) Communications Community Bureau (JKOM) Director Mohamad Hisamuddin has denied accusations that they targeted the Chinese community or made racist remarks.
He issued a statement on Sunday (14th) refuting the accusations made by irresponsible social media users.
He said that as a social media opinion leader, Barisan Nasional blogger Datuk Si Toh Chong’s remarks were not only defamatory, but also deliberately manipulated Hisamuddin's original Facebook post.
Mohamad Hisamuddin clarified that the original post was merely a response to Si Toh Chong and businessman Diao Jiancheng, and was not aimed at any ethnic group or the general public.
“I would like to emphasize that the original Facebook post was clearly only a response to Si Toh Chong and Diao Jiancheng.”
“This is clearly stated in the post, as both Si Toh Chong and Diao Jiancheng were specifically named, and no one else was involved.”
He said that after his legal team completes their review of all related statements, articles, and posts circulated on social media platforms, they will take legal action against those involved.
Also known as 'Syam Ghaz', he further stated he has lodged a police report to allow law enforcement authorities to carry out further investigations.
“I will never tolerate any baseless accusations, defamation, or acts that distort my statements and damage my personal reputation, and will take strict legal action immediately.”
“Lawyer’s letters to Si Toh Chong and all parties involved will be issued in the near future.”
“In addition, we have also requested assistance from social media friends and content creators (KOLs) nationwide to collect evidence, including screenshots of relevant posts and preservation of related post links.”
Additionally, Mohamad Hisamuddin expressed deep regret at certain individuals deliberately distorting his posts, causing outsiders to mistakenly think he was attacking the Chinese community.
He emphasized that harmony in a multi-ethnic society has always been his core value, and that he had absolutely no intention of harming or offending the feelings of any ethnic group in the country.
“However, I deeply regret that, due to my negligence and the misunderstanding caused by this incident, unrelated parties felt offended or hurt.”
“I am willing to take full responsibility, and will be more cautious when handling social media posts in the future.”
