Zhang Songwen Breaks Through at Shanghai Film Festival, Crowned Best Actor as Tony Leung Remains Unretired

The 28th Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet Awards were grandly held on the evening of the 20th at the Shanghai Grand Theatre. Chinese actor Zhang Songwen, who starred alongside Xin Zhilei in "Under the Sun," achieved a "breakthrough from zero" and was crowned Best Actor for his leading role in "Lost in the Box." He received the award from jury president Tony Leung (Leung Chiu Wai) and did not forget to thank his family and industry colleagues who have supported him.

50-year-old Zhang Songwen has been in the industry for 23 years, long known for his acting prowess, but has often passed by major awards. This win marks the first significant award of his acting career. When he went on stage to accept the award, he thanked the team of "Lost," especially Hong Kong actor Patrick Tam Yiu Man, who acted alongside him. He emotionally said: “Thank you to my family for tolerating me working in this industry for so many years. I have truly come to understand the meaning of 'Choose one thing, be loyal for life; do one job, love one job, specialize in one job.' Today, this award allows me to hold on to these words even more firmly. Thank you to the jury for their recognition, and to everyone who has helped me. I am Chinese actor Zhang Songwen!”

As jury president, Tony Leung attended the closing ceremony red carpet together with his wife Carina Lau and fellow jury members including Xin Zhilei, drawing much attention. He was also arranged to present the Best Film award to the Chinese movie "Atlantic." In addition, Leung recently attended the festival's masterclass session, where he clarified his earlier statement that he is in the “final phase of performing,” saying he has no plans to retire. He explained, “If I work until I’m 90, thirty years would be one phase. I hope to have the ability to keep acting until I’m 90.”
