(Miri, 13th) China's "Most Popular Contemporary Artist" Zhu Jianliang visited Miri today, sending early New Year greetings to the citizens of Miri and Chinese community leaders, while presenting a 100-meter-long couplet written by himself. He hopes to offer blessings for the New Year and promote cultural exchange in calligraphy between China and Malaysia.
In an interview, Zhu Jianliang stated that his visit to Miri included both business activities and an opportunity to send early New Year greetings to local business partners and friends. He hopes that calligraphy, as a traditional art, can strengthen cultural ties and friendships between China and Malaysia.
After a luncheon today, he showcased his calligraphy work, bringing along a specially prepared 100-meter-long red rice paper from China, completing this grand couplet work in two hours, which was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Zhu Jianliang is currently a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, the Chinese International Calligraphy Artists Association, and a lifetime member of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Artists Association. In 2018, his work won second prize in the Ninth Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Contest, and he was awarded the title of "Most Popular Contemporary Artist" by the organizing committee.
In 2019, he participated in the 3rd National Art Masters and Famous Works Invitational Exhibition of the "Erwang Award" and was rated as "China's Most Promising Calligrapher of 2019."
In 2020, he won a silver award in the first "Chinese Cup" Global Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Competition; in 2021, he won the gold award in the "Variety China" National Master Artists Selection event on CCTV, and in the same year, he again won the gold award in the 4th National Painting and Calligraphy Competition of the "Erwang Award."
Through this event, Zhu Jianliang not only showcased his profound calligraphy skills but also added a rich chapter to the cultural exchange of calligraphy between China and Malaysia.
