(Miri, 6th) Organized by Miri Yizhi Chess Academy, co-supported by the Miri District Xiangqi Association, Malaysian Chess Education Association, Malaysian Yizhi Chess Academy, and Miri Intellectual Enthusiasts Club, the 2026 "Yizhi Cup" Junior Chess Championship (Season 3) was successfully concluded at Miri Emart Shopping Mall. Principal Huang Yixi of Miri Yizhi Chess Academy expressed gratitude to Miri Emart for sponsoring the venue, ensuring the smooth running of the tournament. He also thanked Bank Rakyat Malaysia and PTPTN for their prizes which made the event even more exciting.
Principal Huang said this season attracted 165 participants, comprising 40 xiangqi (Chinese chess) players and 125 chess players. The competition selected the top 10. The top 10 chess players will also directly qualify for the Grand Finals. This marks the first season completed by the Miri Yizhi Chess Academy, with a total of 4 seasons planned.
The second season will be held on June 17th at EMARTRIAM. The Yizhi Cup is a tournament series that has been held 16 times over 3 years, and it is possible to witness the progress of the participants, which is the fruit of hard work. Of course, one should never be content with the current achievements, as there is always room for improvement.
