(United States, 7th) – Billionaire Musk has announced the formation of a new political party. US President Trump responded by calling it "ridiculous," saying Musk "can have fun with it," but the US works best under a two-party system.
On the 5th, Musk announced the establishment of the American Party, in response to Trump's "Big and Beautiful" tax cut and spending bill. Musk believes the bill will lead to America's bankruptcy.
On the 6th, Trump was asked about the matter by reporters while boarding Air Force One in New Jersey. He stated bluntly that the idea of forming a third party is "ridiculous."
Trump said: "Our Republican Party is very successful; the Democratic Party has lost its way, but America has always been a two-party system. I think forming a third party will only make things more chaotic. This system seems to be designed for just two parties."
Trump added: "A third party has never succeeded, so Musk can play around, but I think it's a very absurd idea."
Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Besent said on the 6th that Musk should focus on running his businesses.
Besent told CNN that the boards of Musk's Tesla and SpaceX would probably prefer that he not get involved in politics.
Besent said: "I think those boards didn't like yesterday's announcement and will urge him to focus on his own business rather than political activities."
