Fifteen provinces across Thailand continue to suffer from severe flooding, resulting in 13 deaths.

According to China News Service, Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported on the 7th that over 3,000 villages and more than 470,000 people have been severely affected by the flooding, with 13 confirmed deaths: 11 in Ayutthaya, 1 in Phichit, and 1 in Phitsanulok.

The report stated that the central region has been hit the hardest, with about 97,000 households in nine provinces affected. In Ayutthaya, rising water levels continue due to the release of water from the Chao Phraya Dam on the Chao Phraya River. Five provinces in the northern region have also been flooded, but water levels in some areas have stabilized or begun to recede.

On the same day, the Thai Meteorological Department issued a weather warning stating that Typhoon “Haikui” has weakened into a severe tropical storm and is expected to further weaken into a tropical depression, possibly bringing heavy rainfall to provinces such as Ubon Ratchathani.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said it is working closely with local governments and related agencies to carry out relief efforts, including evacuating residents, distributing relief supplies, and installing drainage equipment.
