(Miri, 10th) In conjunction with the coming of the Lunar New Year, SUPP Miri & Sibuti Parliamentary Liaison Committee and SUPP Senadin Branch Chairman Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin this morning and SUPP Miri Piasau Branch, Senadin Branch and Pujut Branch teams, went to various places to distribute New Year oranges to wish the people a happy new year in advance.
Lee Kim Shin said in an interview at the meeting that distributing New Year oranges is a traditional practice of the party that has continued for many years. It also takes this opportunity to get close to public opinion and listen to public voices and suggestions, and get closer to the people.
"Every year, we distribute New Year oranges to all major ethnic groups. In addition to wishing them a happy new year, it also conveys the beautiful atmosphere of Sarawakians celebrating together, so that other ethnic groups can better understand Chinese culture. This is also the spirit of ethnic harmony that Sarawak is most proud of."
He said that during the visit this morning, he also received various requests from hawkers at the Tamu Muhibbah, such as the lights in many places in the center were no longer on.
The event was attended by Miri Piasau branch chairman Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew and Miri Mayor and SUPP Pujut branch chairperson Adam Yii。
The places where they delivered the oranges included Tamu Muhibbah、 Open Air Market、Unity Market、Fish Market and Old Man Street。
