The Ministry of Housing and Local Government welcomes the MACC’s investigation into the MyKiosk tendering process by local governments, and emphasizes its commitment to integrity and zero tolerance towards corruption.
The ministry stated in a press release today (2nd), that on May 22nd it proactively submitted the MyKiosk report to the MACC, stressing it will provide full cooperation to the commission.
The MyKiosk program is a people-oriented initiative by the Ministry of Housing, aimed at reducing illegal hawkers and promoting local economic welfare, with each local government responsible for site selection, tendering, and implementation, and a price cap of RM25,000.
The ministry stated that, at present, a total of 133 local governments nationwide (out of 156) are carrying out the MyKiosk program and have appointed as many as 795 contractors for MyKiosk projects.
The ministry reiterated that if any corruption or bribery is found in the procurement process at the local government level, it will uphold zero tolerance and absolutely not compromise.
To implement Madani anti-corruption measures, the ministry has now introduced a 'traffic light' performance evaluation system for all 156 local governments nationwide. This system evaluates the performance of processes such as project approval and procurement, as well as completion deadlines; local governments that do not meet the standards will have their allocations reduced, while those that meet or exceed standards will have their allocations increased.
