The ASEAN-China-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, to be held in Malaysia next year, is expected to form an influential 'triangular alliance' and bring enormous potential for cross-sector collaborations.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan stated that these three groups possess individual strengths and can benefit mutually through proper cooperation.

“The GCC is a group with abundant capital, ASEAN is rich in natural resources and development potential, while China has a vast market.

“Therefore, if the cooperation in these aspects is managed properly, the ASEAN, GCC, and China (triangular alliance) will form a new large group, bringing significant impact to the global economy.”

Mohamad Hasan made these remarks to Malaysian media accompanying him, following a dinner meeting with the Malaysian community in Medina, Saudi Arabia, during his visit on Thursday (local time).

He mentioned that the cooperation of these three groups could also expand the economic markets of each country and avoid reliance on a single market.

“We cannot rely on just one resource or one market, we must diversify our resource areas, including investments and markets.”

On the 8th of last month, media reported statements from Communications Minister Fahmi, citing that Malaysia, as the ASEAN Chairman for 2025, has officially invited Chinese leaders to attend the ASEAN and GCC summit.

Fahmi stated that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar formally extended this invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang during his visit to China in early November.
