(Kuala Lumpur, 30th) Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming, said that although some neighboring countries have declared an energy emergency, Malaysia still enjoys one of the lowest petrol prices globally and the government is implementing several proactive measures to respond to the current situation.
He called on the people to unite as one and reject any form of racial conflict, emphasizing that unity, harmony, and mutual respect form the foundation of national strength, especially in times of crisis.
He said that as the world faces a crisis, every Malaysian should resolve to stand together in overcoming the challenges.
He urged all citizens to support the government's efforts, under the leadership of Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar, to ease the burdens on the people. At the same time, he called for everyone to act responsibly, remain restrained, and avoid spreading negative sentiments that could undermine national unity and economic development.
“Malaysia's spirit of multicultural inclusiveness is our most valuable asset, and we must never let any irresponsible remarks erode the trust and understanding painstakingly built by generations of Malaysians.”
Nga Kor Ming, who is also the National Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Action Party and Chairman of Perak State, made these remarks when delivering a speech during the Perak DAP Hari Raya Banquet 2026 on Sunday.
He also stressed that under the leadership of the Unity Government, Perak is on the right track, as the state government has achieved a financial surplus for four consecutive years and recorded investments totaling RM15.67 billion. At the same time, the state's tourism sector has performed well, attracting over 10.1 million domestic and international tourists during the Perak Tourism Year 2025.
He reiterated that every Malaysian plays an important role in maintaining harmony and safeguarding the nation's unique multiculturalism.
“One nation, one vision, one dream—we can overcome everything together. We must understand: without shared responsibility, there is no shared prosperity.”
