ASEAN Social Security Meeting Kicks Off, Brunei Assumes Annual Chairmanship

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) The 42nd ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA) Council and Secretariat Meeting was successfully held on November 5, 2025, at the Garicun Hotel.
This meeting was hosted by the Employees Trust Fund (TAP), with representatives from ASSA member institutions in the ASEAN region attending.
The meeting was chaired by Jose Arnulfo, President and General Manager of the Philippine Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), who also serves as the ASSA Chairperson for 2024-2025.
At the start of the meeting, Mr. Beroso delivered the welcome speech and presided over the ASSA Council Meeting.
During the meeting, delegates also signed the ASSA Sustainability Commitment, watched the ASSA trophy concept video, the 2025 ASSA Recognition Awards Ceremony video, as well as the ASSA Annual Highlights review video, showcasing the achievements and cooperation of member institutions over the past year.
The agenda included the official appointment of Azmilin, Acting Managing Director of TAP Brunei, as the ASSA Chairperson for 2025-2026. It was also announced that Melissa Khoo, CEO of Singapore’s Central Provident Fund Board, would serve as ASSA Vice-Chair, and TAP Deputy Managing Director Haji I would serve as ASSA Secretary-General, with all terms set for 2025-2026.
After the handover ceremony, the 2025-2026 ASSA Chairperson expressed gratitude to the outgoing chairperson and reaffirmed Brunei’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation and innovation in the field of social security across the ASEAN region, under the theme “Collective Progress – Transformative Reform, Creating a Shared Future for All.”

The successful convening of the 42nd ASSA Council and Secretariat Meeting marks another important achievement in strengthening unity, knowledge sharing, and regional cooperation among ASEAN social security institutions.
