Brunei Joint Operation Foils Smuggling, Seizes Cigarettes, Alcohol, and Meat

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 29th) Brunei Marine Police (POLMAR) Operations Unit, Police Force (PPDB), Armed Forces (RBAF), Customs Department (JKED), and Narcotics Control Bureau (BKN) conducted a joint operation and successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle contraband through Bruneian waters.
In the early morning of June 27 (Friday), surveillance detected a suspicious boat speeding through the waters and entering a creek near the dock at Kampong Mentiri Sibabau base.
The operations team immediately rushed to the scene and found the boat parked beside a hut in the area with no driver present. Upon inspection, the suspicious vessel was found to be carrying several boxes of suspected contraband, including 600 cartons of various cigarettes, 156 bottles and 240 cans of various brands of alcohol, 10 kilograms of raw chicken wings, and 8.78 kilograms of liver meat.
The boat and contraband items have been handed over to the Customs Department for further action.
The Customs Department and law enforcement agencies will continue to ensure the safety of national waters and prevent any criminal activity through integrated operations and routine patrols.
