Ukrainian President Zelensky stated on the 4th that he had an "important and productive phone call" with U.S. President Trump, during which both sides agreed to work together to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
Zelensky expressed Ukraine’s gratitude for the support provided by the United States.
He said that the two sides discussed the current situation, including Russian airstrikes and the constantly expanding front line, as well as the possibility of cooperation in air defense. They agreed to work together to improve the protection of Ukrainian airspace.
He noted that the two sides also had in-depth exchanges on defense industrial capacity and joint production. Ukraine is willing to engage in direct project cooperation with the United States, which he said is extremely important for Ukraine’s security, especially in obtaining drones and related technology.
Recently, the United States suspended part of its military aid to Ukraine, putting Ukraine—already under pressure from Russia’s summer offensive—under even greater strain.
